COMPARISON BETWEEN MAGNESIUM AND ZINC PLATES
Compared to zinc plate magnesium plate has more advantages as follows:
The etching speed is faster than zinc plate.
Magnesium plate is not deformed in the stamping process, heats up quickly and has higher printing durability. Much better hot stamping effect.
The surface hardness of magnesium plate is stronger than zinc plate, close to the copper plate.
Better working environment
It has light weight, thermal conductivity, heat transfer and heat dissipation, high surface hardness, stripping easy.
APPLICATIONS
Photoengraving is a global industry with a variety of applications. In recent years demand for metal foil-stamping and embossing dies – produced by chemical etching and computer numerical control (CNC) engraving – has grown significantly, primarily in luxury packaging and labeling. Greeting cards continue to be a major market for foiling and embossing. Foil stamping
Foil stamping has enjoyed increasing popularity as a means to create striking visuals. Foil can be found on consumer goods labels, book covers, greeting cards, presentation folders, business cards, stationary and trading cards. Magnesium dies are fast and cost-effective for short- or medium-run printing jobs. Foil stamping is a specialized technique that conveys quality and sophistication.
Embossing
Embossing employs magnesium dies under heat and pressure to create a relief image. This on different substrates, including paper, leather, textiles and wood. The end result is an impactful presentation of a raised image. Elaborate three-dimensional designs come to life through engraving. No other process or techniques can match the tactile qualities of a beautiful emboss.
Thermal dies
Thermal dies offer an inexpensive alternative to steel rule dies and facilitate the use of intricate art work in die cutting applications. Chemical etched magnesium eliminates the traditional time-consuming effort of bending steel rules.
